Hello everyone and welcome to our first quarterly newsletter of 2016.

Here is a quick update on who is doing what at the practice:

Tamsin: She has returned from her maternity leave and currently works 4 mornings a week. She still takes a few Pilates and Gyrokinesis classes, and March saw the onset of a new Gyro class at 9.30 on Thursday mornings. Gyro is a fun, safe way of keeping your spine healthy so please come join us for a class sometime. The updated class schedule can be found on our website.

Nicky: Joined the practice in April last year and is now our full time Physiotherapist. Huge congratulations to Nicky for not only completing her diploma in Sports Course last year but for coming 3rd in the class! Nicky is passionate about exercise and rehabilitation and she is currently studying to become a Pilates instructor.

Jayne: Joined the practice towards the end of last year. She helps out at our practice 3 afternoons a week and on Tuesdays. Congratulations to Jayne for qualifying as a Pilates instructor this month! We are looking forward to Jayne teaching classes for us as she is well skilled as a teacher; being a qualified triathlon coach and an aqua therapist already. If any of you swimmers need some stroke correction or if anyone is looking to try out hydrotherapy please contact Jayne, she would love to help you.

Tracey: Is our new office manager/receptionist, having joined the team a month ago. She has over 20 years of experience in this role and her expertise has already shown her to be a great asset to our practice. We look forward to the practice growing under her calm and steady guidance.

Client led Therapy/NLP: As always we love to stay connected with other therapists in the area so that we are in touch with what is on offer to our clients in terms of health care services. One of our clients is interested in running an NLP course (Neuro Linguistic Programming) at our studio on Saturdays. You can either use the course for your own personal benefit, or if you are in the field of mental health care you are able to use it as a training course to be able to use NLP as a treatment modality in your field. If you would be interested in attending the course or finding out more information about NLP as a therapy please can you contact Dr Panos Lazanus on +27 83 5363494. It is an excellent form of stress release and brining awareness to one’s life.

Easter is just around the corner which means so is Two Oceans. It is a bit late for the last minute training, but it’s never too late to stretch and foam roll. If you need a foam roller please remember that we stock our own made-to-order, firm, 1m foam rollers for a very reasonable price of R300- which is half the price of the sports stores out there! Foam rollers are excellent for helping with recovery between runs and in keeping your fascia mobile prior to and/or during a sporting event. You can also use them to do an array of core exercises. Although they look very unassuming, we rate the foam roller as one of the best tools in any athletes ‘cross-training’ repertoire. Call the practice to check if we have in stock if you would like to add it to your home training kit.

Facebook: Don’t forget to like our facebook page if you have not already done so. This will keep you up to date with all the latest practice news and it will give you access to interesting articles and exercises that we post there. (You can click on the facebook icon at the end of the newsletter.)

Just a reminder that the practice will be open between the Public holidays.

Wishing you all a wonderful time with family over the upcoming Easter and Pesach holidays. Travel safely and keep those spines moving!
