We are now half way through the year – time flies when you are having fun, and what fun we are having at the practice!!

Our lower limb rehab class has made a welcome comeback. It is now taking place on Tuesday mornings from 7-8am. Nicky is having a fabulous time instructing this class. Being a keen athlete herself she is only too aware of how just a little bit of the right strengthening and balancing exercises can make a large improvement to your performance on the road. And even more importantly these classes are aimed at preventing injuries from occurring. We know just how frustrating it can be to have to rest due to injury, which is why we try so hard to get you to do your exercises at home. This is a fun, safe and supervised way of doing your ankle or knee rehab or even just your strength training workout.

Jayne is now a fully qualified Pilates instructor and is full steam ahead with taking our evening Pilates classes. The evening classes take place on Monday at 6pm and at 5.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Jayne is also a registered triathlon coach, as well as a hydro therapist- which means she can take you for exercise sessions in the water. The buoyancy and resistance of the water allows for a great workout which at that same time is kind on your joints. Perfect for anyone who has pain caused by joint degeneration or is unable to weight bear fully due to injury or pregnancy.

The Gyrokinesis classes are taken by Tamsin on a Wednesday at 7am and on Thursday at 9.30am. Gyrokinesis is a great form of exercise, with one of the main principles being to lengthen the spine while exercising. The inventor of Gyrokinesis believes that exercise should be something that feels good both while you are exercising and after. Come and try a Gyro class to see how it feels to have fun while getting a good workout. We promise your spine will thank you for it!

If you would like further information about ‘What Is’ Pilates and/or Gyrokinesis, or just to catch the latest class timetable, please go to our website for more details www.physiocapetown.co.za. Remember that we do also offer individual rehab sessions at our on-site studio. So if the thought of a class is a bit intimidating or getting up at 7am is too daunting, give us a call to arrange a session with any one of the qualified Physios/instructors during our regular working hours.

We have started a ‘Move of the Month‘ post on our Facebook page. So follow us on FB if you want to access our ‘moves’ as well as the other interesting articles that we regularly post there.

Once again we would like to thank you all for your support over the last quarter. Wishing you all the best for the next quarter, and as always we love to hear from you, so feel free to keep in touch on any one of our channels of communication or even better pop in to say hi when you are next in the area.
