All the Physiotherapists at Tamsin Hodgson Physiotherapy share the same treatment philosophies: we believe in treating the person and not just the body part; we ensure a thorough assessment is undertaken at the initial appointment to help us reach the source of the problem rather than just treating the site; we reassess during our treatments and at follow up appointments to make sure that we are not just applying an aimless treatment- we seek change!  Should we feel that a condition falls outside of our scope of practice, we spend many hours networking with other health care professionals to make certain that we are able to refer to a practitioner that will better serve your needs.  Your well-being is our priority.

Although all the Physiotherapists are similarly trained in dry needling, Pilates and taping techniques they do each have their own special interests, so please be sure to read more in the blurbs below . Should you be particularly interested in Cranio-sacral therapy or Gyrokinesis please ask for Tamsin when you make your booking.

Tamsin Hodgson obtained her BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of Cape Town. As is compulsory for physiotherapists in South Africa, she completed her year of community service in the Knysna Provincial Hospital.

Tamsin returned to Cape Town and began her work in the private practice field of physiotherapy as this is where her true interests lie. While working, she continued studying part-time, completing her Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT1). OMT1 is internationally recognized and highly regarded by fellow physiotherapists. It not only teaches physiotherapists how to perform spinal manipulations, but also improves the quality of a physiotherapist’s evaluation and practical treatment techniques.

To compliment her practical treatment ability Tamsin completed a Pilates as well as a Gyrokinesis course, to better understand the movements of the human body. She is now a qualified Pilates and Gyrokinesis instructor for both individual and group mat classes.

Through years of practical experience and an exposure to a variety of courses, Tamsin has come to appreciate the intricate complexity of the connection between the mind and the body. It is for this reason that Tamsin believes a client needs to be treated as a whole unit and not just as a dysfunctional body part/s. While mainstream Physiotherapy is moving more towards this more holistic treatment approach, they do not always offer the tools to treat these complexities. It is for this reason that Tamsin has undertaken training in both the Cranio-Sacral therapy and Osteopathic techniques. These treatments are closely related to the functioning of the nervous system, in the spine and the gut, which can have a profound effect on one’s overall well being.

Paula Tully

View Paula's Courses

Paula did her undergraduate physiotherapy training at the University of Cape Town and she was part of the UCT group that won the intervarsity presentation for their thesis. She then moved to KwaZulu-Natal in 2014 to do her community service at the East Griqualand and Usher Memorial Hospital in Kokstad. She loved the small town and ended up staying for another year where she gained experience in a busy private practice. She returned to Cape Town and started working in a private practice in the Southern Suburbs while continuing to further her studies. In 2016, she completed the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy course (OMT1), as well as doing her Pilates training through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (Pilates training specifically for physiotherapists).

Paula loves working with athletes and is currently studying part-time to get her Msc in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy at UCT, with a dissertation on shoulder injuries in water polo players. She is also the current Villager FC 1st XV rugby team physio and has worked at many sporting events, the ABSA Cape Epic being one of her favourites.

Paula was an avid hockey player until university when a devastating injury stopped her career. During her recovery, she developed a love and appreciation for Pilates. She now enjoys teaching Pilates classes, as well as incorporating the techniques and exercises into her treatment sessions. Paula believes in a holistic and rehabilitative approach to treatment. She likes figuring out the best way to adapt every session to the individual needs of her patients to help them achieve their functional or sporting goals.
