Tamsin Hodgson obtained her BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of Cape Town. As is compulsory for physiotherapists in South Africa, she completed her year of community service in the Knysna Provincial Hospital. Being the only physiotherapist in the hospital she gained valuable experience in all fields of physiotherapy, treating patients in the ICU, in the hospital as both in- and out-patients, as well as working in the clinics.
Tamsin returned to Cape Town and began her work in the private practice field of physiotherapy as this is where her true interests lie. While working, she continued studying part-time, completing her Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT1). OMT1 is internationally recognized and highly regarded by fellow physiotherapists. It not only teaches physiotherapists how to perform spinal manipulations, but also improves the quality of a physiotherapist’s evaluation and practical treatment techniques.
To compliment her practical treatment ability Tamsin completed a Pilates course to better understand the movements of the human body. She is now a qualified Pilates instructor for both individual and group mat classes. She has really enjoyed the rehabilitation aspect of physiotherapy and has gone on to complete several other courses focused on the integration of manual physiotherapy techniques and rehabilitative exercises. (Click on Physiotherapy for an updated list of courses completed)
Her main interests are in orthopeadic rehab, sports injuries, neck and back pain, dry needling, cranio-sacral therapy, Pilates and spinal manipulation.
Her practice is situated within the centre of Cape Town, at the House of Holistic Health, where she works closely with other health professionals. |
